The UK's first superfund transaction

As the fiduciary manager for Clara Pensions we are thrilled to support them on their journey as the UK’s first superfund.

The Clara transaction illustrates innovation in the market and serves as an viable alternative for DB pension schemes as they approach their end-game.  For sponsoring employers, it provides the opportunity to move their pension scheme off their balance sheets whilst providing a high degree of security for it’s members. Lastly, we believe it has many potential benefits for scheme members given Clara’s ‘members-first’ ethos.  Find out more in the video below.

From concept to reality

Earlier this month Clara had the pleasure of announcing the first agreement with the Trustees of the Sears Retail Pension Scheme. In this video we talk to Clara’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer, Richard Zugic, to hear about this exciting journey.

The window of opportunity

Pension schemes can purposely run-on and indeed take a longer journey to ultimate buy-out - we discuss how Van Lanschot Kempen’s FM+ solution, developed in co-operation with C-Suite Pension Strategies, creates a window of opportunity for surplus beyond a buy-out measure to be further built up and regularly released, for the benefit of pensioners, current employees and the sponsor, with the support of the trustees.

Running on well-funded schemes

More and more defined benefit pension schemes are finding themselves in the wonderful position of being well funded and able to afford an insurance buy-out transaction. Being in such a position is indeed great news, but it also opens up a number of options for well-funded, strong-covenant schemes, with sponsors willing to remain engaged for a longer term.

An opportunity for DB pension schemes to run-on sustainably

As custodians of pension assets for future
generations, trustees might consider alternative long term funding solutions.  We explore this in our latest video.
