Successful launch of open-ended private equity fund focused on secondaries: over €150 million committed during launch period

Amsterdam/’s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, 29 January 2026

Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management today announces the successful launch of its private equity fund, ‘Private Equity Secondaries Evergreen Solution’. Due to strong interest from private banking clients, over €150 million was committed during the launch period. The fund is now open for subscriptions on a quarterly basis for clients with a minimum investment of €250,000. The aim is to make the fund accessible in the future from €100,000 onwards.

Investing in secondaries gives investors, such as high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurs with a long-term focus, additional diversification within their portfolios. A key feature of the Private Equity Secondaries Evergreen Solution is that it is an open-ended/evergreen fund. This gives investors the opportunity to enter on a quarterly basis and, after a so-called ‘lock-up’ period of three years, to redeem on a quarterly basis as well.

Wendy Winkelhuijzen, Member of the Management Board of Van Lanschot Kempen, responsible for Private Banking Netherlands: “The highly successful launch of the Private Equity Secondaries Evergreen Solution shows that our clients are enthusiastic about this further expansion of our private markets offering, which provides both diversification and flexibility. The fund can be a valuable addition to an investment portfolio, particularly due to its relatively shorter investment cycle and the increased liquidity characteristics of an evergreen structure.”

In the private equity secondaries segment, often referred to simply as ‘secondaries’, investors buy or sell existing interests in private equity funds or portfolios, rather than making new investments as on the primary market.

The fund invests in secondaries particularly when the original manager of the underlying private equity fund also co-invests. This structure is known as GP-led secondaries and has the advantage that all parties’ interests are aligned. Van Lanschot Kempen also regularly receives co-investment opportunities from its private equity partners, which lowers costs for clients and enables faster capital deployment. In addition, the evergreen structure of this solution offers better liquidity compared to traditional closed-end private equity investments.

Sven Smeets, Head of the Private Equity Strategy at Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management: “The entrusted amount of more than €150 million is a wonderful result, but we are just as proud of the broad interest shown. Thanks to our extensive network in the private equity market, we are able to allocate this capital relatively quickly and carefully to high-quality secondaries investments. By now, we have already committed a significant portion of the capital to various private equity parties, and the first co-investments have already been added to the portfolio.”

In 2025, clients entrusted more than €540 million to Van Lanschot Kempen during the launch of two new private equity funds.
